Welcome to the Brookyln Bridge!
The Brooklyn Bridge started construction in 1869 and was completed fourteen years later in 1883. It was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge and the East River Bridge.
The Chief Engineer of the Brookyln Bridge was Emily Warren Roebling. She oversaw the design, construction, and business management of the tremendous undertaking.
According to the New York City Department of Transportation in 2016, "more than 120,000 vehicles, 4,000 pedestrians, and 2,600 bicyclists cross the Brooklyn Bridge every day"!
